Hey, y'all!

I am Amanda, the "A" in "A Hanson Photography." I was born & raised in Richmond, VA, and now I am based in the Asheville, NC area. I have loved photography my entire life, and I learned how to shoot on my mom's old manual 35mm film camera. I have a furkid named Maggie, a great doggo who adopted me in 2018, and I would not have it any other way.

In my 9-5, I work in higher education, which I realize sounds completely different than photography, but there is one common thread: the opportunity to work with people, learn what has shaped them up to this point, and see them for who they truly are today.

I am excited about the opportunity to help capture a bit of your story. My approach to portraits is calm & relaxed with a bit of humor. I always want to capture the "real" you as opposed to the more "formal" you that is often seen in posed settings.
